You see, I’m 62 years old and last year my doctor told me that my A1C was in the pre-diabetic range (6.7). I had to lose weight. That same year I slipped and fell causing a closed compression fracture on my L1. Wearing a back brace for three months left my lower back muscles weak. Had a lot of frustration because I needed to be exercising along with starting a healthy diet lifestyle. But I also needed to allow my back to heal. After the MRI, they also discovered arthritis in my right hip. That was my turning point to get serious about my physical health.
Back in January, a close friend shared how she had lost 22 pounds over the summer using a diet from the Mediterranean. I asked her about it and began a 30-day weight loss challenge to see if it would really work for me. And it did! By day 19, I had lost 14 pounds and 3 inches around my waist. Losing the weight gave me more energy and less back pain. lol …Not quite ready for aerobics, but I’m increasing my steps by walking 15-20 minutes each day along with PT exercises for strength and balance.
I got my blood work results from my doctor on 9/7/2020. My A1C went down from 6.7 to 6.2 and my total weight loss was 20 lbs. This was a real boost. I finally found something that was easy to do and produced the results I was looking for.
