What a great time to be alive, especially in America.
Our economy is booming. More people at every level are making more money than ever before.
We have more leisure time and nearly full employment.
It’s a drastic improvement from just 4 years ago.
What the average American carries around with her in the form of the smartphone has all of the knowledge of the nation’s library system, the ability to monitor our own health, find directions to any part of the world, watch any movie or television show ever produced, learn 90 percent of world’s professions, and take the place of a watch, and alarm clock and a myriad of other devices.
That’s a dramatic change in 10 years.
We are finding new and better treatments for all kinds of diseases and disabilities and we have the ability to recover from the worst natural disasters in months or weeks instead of the years it used to take.
That’s a good thing, right?
Yet one industry, the “news” industry, has a vested interest in focusing 90 percent of their time on the 5 percent of things that are negative, magnifying the minutia (my dad would have said “making mountains out of mole hills”) for their “gains” and far too many of us (myself included at times) get caught in the trap of wasting time listening to people who’ve really never accomplished much of anything themselves tell us how bad we’ve got it.
Let’s not do that. It’s not in our best interest. Let’s consume less news and make more of our own.
My dad’s generation would have thought they had died and gone to Heaven over what the circumstances we complain about and...It’s only getting better.
